About the Hosts

We are Kevin & Debra Taylor, lifelong East Texans living on another part of property in an old Farmhouse. After years of managing our busy home with 6 kids, home-schooling, hobby farming, and various other projects we are enjoying the empty-nester life & love spending time with family & friends! We like to do things the unconventional way, and don’t mind hard work & taking risks!

Our favorites are going on dates, traveling for short little getaways, working on our property and creating cool and unique spaces for others to do the same! Hosting and taking great care of our guests is a natural fit for us. We love what we do!

In 2015 we designed and built our first cabin. We got the name Little Reata from our favorite movie “Giant”. All of our cabins are named after classic films or beloved family members.

Reata was finished with local hardwood and the outside siding & inside ceiling of recycled cedar from the vintage “Brick Street Pharmacy” in the Azalea District. The original design of Rustic/Modern is a good fit for our tastes and the style we prefer when we travel.

Our Cabins are custom built by us and each have a variety of local hardwoods with a mix of new & reclaimed materials.

The property boasts of being the highest point in the county on a deep part of Lake Palestine.

The focus at Lake Cabin Escapes is romance, relaxation & rejuvenation.
